Doug Peterson

Doug is a native of Knox County, Tennessee and graduated from Central High School in 1966. He began his college career at Carson Newman College where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1970. Continuing into graduate school at Tennessee Technological University, Doug researched the movement of black bass in Center Hill Reservoir. He earned a Master of Science Degree in 1974.

Doug began his professional career with the TWRA in 1974 as a fisheries biologist in East Tennessee. His duties included reservoir fishery management, warm water streams, farm ponds, and aquatic environmental protection. In 1986, he was promoted to Wildlife Manager III in charge of organizing the newly established reservoir fisheries program in Region IV. Doug is responsible for supervising and administrating the reservoir fisheries and warm water hatchery programs and is the regional coordinator of the commercial fishing and community lake programs.
