The Black Bass of Tennessee


Redeye or "Coosa" bass are native only to the Conasauga River in Southeast Tennessee, but have been introduced and are established in a few streams on the Cumberland Plateau and in the Hiwassee River drainage. They rarely grow larger than 14-inches. Redeye bass typically have a white margin on their fins and a jaw size similar to that of the more familiar spotted and smallmouth bass.
